The new Training Centre is expected to be completed in October 2022 and will employ circa 200 tradespeople during construction. Reducing the amount of waste on site at Hayward College has been part of the planning from day one. Timber and metal are being recycled, even the concrete and terracotta is avoiding the landfill and being reused on farm tracks and alike.
Otago Polytechnic celebrated the opening of its $1.5m redevelopment of its Bannockburn site this week. Students will start using the new facilities in early 2019. It was full steam ahead last Friday (25th November) with ground stabilisation and foundation preparation well underway for the 231-room Otago Polytechnic new student accommodation building. The foundations are scheduled to be poured mid-December closely followed by the arrival on site of the CLT (cross laminated timber) panels on the 16th January 2017.
