The University of Otago (UOO) Hayward College Refurbishment project reached the milestone of achieving practical completion at 5.00pm on Friday 15th February 2019 – exactly on schedule. Simon Dalton, UOO Senior Property Manager is pictured with Sam Cadden from Logic Group.
It was ‘Contractor Clean Up Day’ on Friday at the Hayward site. After 12 weeks of working up to 14 hours a day, haircuts have been at the bottom of our Contractors priorities.. The fourth, third and second floor bedrooms of Hayward College now have furniture in them, thanks to the hard work of all Contractors on site. The project is on schedule, and the last two weeks are going to continue to be as fast paced as the last ten!
The internal fit-out of Maniototo Hospital is on its final days of completion. Over the next few weeks the services will be commissioned, furniture installed and landscaping completed.
The new $7.0m Maniototo Hospital is scheduled to be completed in time for its mid-February audit. Logic have been the Project Managers on the facility from its inception. The first Hayward College refurbishment project toolbox talk for 2019 took place outside in the brilliant Dunedin sunshine. Between 120-140 people are on site everyday to ensure this project is handed over to the University of Otago in time for the students arrival.

The Maniototo Hospital new build is progressing well, with painting and floor coverings underway in the main Hospital. The access road is being prepared for asphalting and the Boiler House, Wood Chip Bunker and related services are well underway.
Otago Polytechnic celebrated the opening of its $1.5m redevelopment of its Bannockburn site this week. Students will start using the new facilities in early 2019. The roof, and windows are now in place, with work approximately 1 week ahead of schedule. Currently the sub-trades are well into the first fix. The doors have arrived, and are being installed.
The new car park at Mercy Hospital is in its last two weeks of construction. The final of the concrete slabs are being poured this week.
External condition surveys were undertaken this week for the Dunedin City Council. Heritage Architects, Structural Engineers and a Stonemason consultant were lifted over and around the Dunedin Town Hall and Municipal chambers assessing the building structure. Reports are due soon.
Framing is now being erected and should be completed by 29th June. The trusses arrive on site next week. It’s looking good!
We had a fantastic night at the Property Council New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknall Property Council Industry Awards 2018 on Friday, with the Otago Polytechnic Student Village project receiving two awards. Excellence, Resene Green Building Property Award Merit, Arrow International Multi-Unit Residential Property Award Well done team!
The slab pour occurred this week for the new Central Campus development at the Bannockburn Road site. Prior to this, the site was blessed by Francie Diver of Alexandra.
The successful drilling of the new stormwater pipe route under Marinoto Clinic and the pouring of the Grid C concrete beam have been recently completed. Our attention now turns to the installation of the concrete beams and flat slabs. The car park is on track to be completed late July 2018.

Sam Cadden was given the opportunity to address the invited guests on Friday 1st June at the official opening of the Otago Polytechnic Student Village. He reported on the building and design features, outlining the sustainable impact of the building. Congratulations Otago Polytechnic for this iconic prototype building.
