The main Tower Block underwent a major earthquake proofing and refurbishment programme, making it one of the country’s safest and most beautifully maintained heritage buildings. Works were completed over the Christmas holidays, within a stringent 12-week timeframe.
The Challenge.
Coordination of onsite labour over Christmas period, ensuring timely project completion for next student influx in February. Upgrading to compliant fire and earthquake codes without altering 1909 building’s historic aesthetics. Diverse procurement strategies required.
The Process.
On-site office was situated in client environment, ensuring fast, accurate and honest communication, and allowing for total integration into each other’s teams. Project group had a common goal, with zero politics. Packages broken down into manageable sizes – up to 140 workers on site.
The Solution.
No surprises” philosophy through close communication and clearly defined common goals. Logic FM engaged as advisor overseeing future upgrades and campus strategy/planning. Project received “Heritage and Adaptive Reuses” Merit award in Property Council NZ Industry Awards 2014.
