It was full steam ahead last Friday (25th November) with ground stabilisation and foundation preparation well underway for the 231-room Otago Polytechnic new student accommodation building. The foundations are scheduled to be poured mid-December closely followed by the arrival on site of the CLT (cross laminated timber) panels on the 16th January 2017.

Dunedin Hospital MRI Lift

The 5 tonne MRI machine was lifted out of level 1 of the Clinical Services Building on Saturday 12th November. The waiting room, triage and reception of the Emergency Department were temporarily evacuated while the lift took place. The replacement MRI is due to be lifted into the same space in the next week.

Today marked the successful lift of a 4 tonne electrical transformer onto a concrete pad. A crane was needed as the site was inaccessible by any other means. The transformer is part of the new energy strategy for the Mercy Hospital site.
